Our Story

On a breezy corner of Tribeca stands Marathi, a regionally inspired Greek bistro whose name comes from owner Andreas Koutsoudakis’ childhood summer memories spent along the lapping shores of Marathi beach in Crete. Owned and operated by a team who share the same heritage and deep appreciation for Crete's distinct culture, Marathi brings a uniquely regional and personal perspective to New York City’s Greek restaurant scene by focusing on homestyle Cretan cooking peppered with innovative culinary technique and creativity.

Made with golden olive oil from our island’s fertile soils and served with the extraordinary pride of the Cretan people, you’ll find every meal at Marathi is as much a heartfelt tribute to the island as it is a fresh reimagining of Crete’s staple dishes. We warmly invite you in to sit at our table, enjoy a delicious meal, and watch how quickly welcomed strangers can become cherished friends.
